Smart PDLC Film - Which One Is Best?

Posted by Florida Window Films on 3:30 PM
Our Smart PDLC Films come in two formats, adhesive and non-adhesive. Of these two formats, you can choose either a 50v or 110v version. The adhesive format is used for existing glass surfaces, or where when the film will not be laminated. The non-adhesive version is used to laminate between glass or for "mechanical" installation.

Deciding on the right Smart PDLC Film will depend on the type of installation

Deciding on a voltage is also an option. The 50v Smart PDLC Films require a transformer to step down the line voltage to the proper 50v necessary to operate. The 110v Smart PDLC Film allows direct line current to be connected right to the film with no need for a transformer. Deciding on a voltage depends on your power supply. In some areas 50v is considered low-voltage and an electrician may not be required for installation (NOTE: Check with your State or local permitting department to see if a licensed electrician is needed for installation. Smart Power Films always recommends any electrical connections are performed by a professional licensed electrician)

Deciding on the right Smart PDLC Film will depend on the type of installation and the power you will be supplying. The easiest retro-fit Smart Film is the adhesive version. If you plan on replacing the window, the non-adhesive version can be laminated between the panels for an even cleaner, more protected installation.
